WHY SOLAS WAY?
Solas means “light” in Irish — and that idea sits at the heart of what Solas Way is here to do.
SEND can become complicated very quickly: lots of information, competing advice, unfamiliar processes and no obvious sense of which way to go next. Solas Way exists to bring clarity to that complexity and help families find a practical way forward.
My background spans education, SEND, psychology and social, emotional and mental health. I’m a qualified teacher and qualified SENCo, with extensive experience supporting children and young people with additional needs and working alongside families, schools and other professionals. Much of my professional experience has been within SEMH, where learning, wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, relationships and the wider school environment often intersect.

My approach is also shaped by ongoing postgraduate study and research in mental health and wellbeing in education, alongside my psychology background. That means looking beyond the immediate problem to understand the wider picture, then turning that understanding into clear, practical next steps.
I believe good SEND support should leave people better informed, clearer about their options and more confident in the decisions they make — not more dependent on the person supporting them. Whether Solas Way is working directly with a family or developing resources for professionals, the aim is the same: thoughtful, evidence-informed support that helps people find a way forward.
